Worked examples
| Project | Size | At national ranges |
|---|---|---|
| Two-car driveway, plain | 20 × 24 ft = 480 sq ft | about $2,880–$5,760 |
| RV pad | 12 × 40 ft = 480 sq ft | about $1,920–$3,840 (slab range) |

Multiply square footage by the range and you have a rough check. If a bid lands far outside it, ask what is included or missing.
What moves a Lubbock quote
- Size. Crew, trucks and pump cost about the same whether you pour 150 or 1,500 square feet, so small jobs cost more per square foot.
- Thickness and steel. Going from 4 to 6 inches adds half again as much concrete. Rebar or wire adds labor.
- Ground. Cutting caliche, hauling out soft soil or building up a pad adds hours.
- Tear-out. Removing old concrete or asphalt first, about $2 to $6 per square foot nationally.
- Access. Backyard pours behind a fence may need a pump or wheelbarrows.
- Finish. Broom is the baseline; stamped, colored and textured cost more and need sealing.
- Approach permit. Work in the Lubbock right-of-way needs a city permit, and the approach has to meet city details.
- Season. Hot, windy days and freezing nights both call for extra curing measures.
Concrete by the yard
People in Lubbock search "cost of concrete per yard" almost as often as they search installed prices. A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, which covers about 81 square feet at 4 inches thick. Ready-mix is only part of an installed price; prep, forms, labor, finishing, joints and cleanup make up the rest. We did not find a reliable published Lubbock ready-mix price, so ask contractors how many yards their bid assumes. For slab-by-slab yardage, see the concrete slab cost guide.
Comparing bids fairly
- Line up thickness, steel, base prep, finish, joints, sealing, removal, haul-off and permits on each bid.
- Ask how many yards each bid assumes.
- Pay in stages tied to progress, not all up front.
- Get proof of liability insurance, and in Lubbock ask whether the contractor is registered with the city.
For the job itself, see concrete driveways, concrete slabs and concrete patios.
